working like a dog book

Working Like A Dog is an educational coffee table book that beautifully displays photos of many types of working dogs. From search and rescue, to guide dogs, to seizure alert dogs, bed bug sniffing and more,  this book pays honor to the amazing dogs that help make ours lives a little easier. We recognize that all breeds and sizes, from 4lb to 110lb can have a job, and we are so proud to represent so many breeds, sizes, and jobs.

Hi, This is Maggie’s mum, Nicole. My good friend and Project Runway model, Brandise Danesewich, and I are doing a coffee table book. A big, glossy, beautiful, hard cover book to sit on your living room table when friends come over. We would love your wonderful dog’s to be a part of it, we are currently not photogrpahing any more dogs for this eidtion. But there will be more, we have a whole slew of excitement down the line. So yes, your dog could be a super model one day. But being that Maggie has strict rules, this a book dedicated to her hero’s the hard working, loving, and dedicated service, rescue, and working dogs. So if you own a real service or working dog, as in a dog that does a job for you or the community and helps in daily life then we will love to represent your dog in one of our future projects. I’m sure you have a lot of questions so I’m gonna do my best to answer them below. If you are interested or have more questions please feel free to email me at nicole@maggieandnicole.com.

What do I have to do next, I’m ready and want to submit my pup?

If you have a service, rescue, or working dog and are interested in being part of a future photo shoot please sent me an email with a photo to nicole@maggieandnicole.com, with the following info. 1. Your name (Just so we don’t seem rude when we call/email/talk with you). 2. Your dog’s name. 3. What city and state you live in. 4. A way to contact you – preferably email and phone. 5. (Optional) If you want to include it, what type of service or working dog that you have. This is totally at your free will to give.

Why are you doing this?

We love dogs. Our lives are surrounded in a world of cameras, photographers, flashes, and sets.  We want to meet you, we love people and dogs and hearing stories. But most of all we want to educate people about the many types of service dogs. These dog’s are not for just the blind, but also do search and rescue, stop seizures, help the hard of hearing, and do so much more to make people’s lives a little bit easier. We want to open people’s eyes to how amazing these dogs are, the beautiful colors and the many sizes that they come in.

How many dogs have you photographed?

A lot! And we absolutely can not wait to meet more.

If you photograph mine, will s/he be in the book?

We can’t promise, but we will give you a beautiful, high quality, professional, photo no matter what! We will try our best to put every dog in but with the large amount of dogs we will and have been photographing we will not be able to guarantee everyone a spot in the book.

Do you have a grant?

No,  at this time we have not pursued anyone for funds. This is a project we feel passionate about and are doing with our own funds.

If my dog is chosen do I have to sign a release?

Yes, but it protects you too! We won’t use your dogs photo for anything non-related to this book without your permission.

Is my name going to be a part of it?

No, in no way are we going to advertise your name. This is all about the star of your family. Don’t worry we still like you too.

Do I have to pay for my dog to be in the book?

Nope! A matter of fact as a thank you for letting us photograph your family member we will give you a free high quality professional photo!

Tell us something else awesome?

A portion of the proceeds of this book will either be donated to a organization that helps train/raise service dogs or help a family/person in need of a service dog obtain one.

Are you actually good with dogs?

Well for one you will be there to see us work with your dog. And yes we love and adore dogs. I am a celebrity dog trainer in Los Angeles, that has also trained such animals as horses, cats, tigers, bears, leopards, and more!

Do I have to live in Los Angeles?

Absolutely not. We are a bit travel obsessed and have traveled across many states to meet these pups in fur.

Can I submit my deceased dog for the book who was a service dog?

Sadly no, we need to take a photo of the dog to match all the rest. But we would love to see your dog anyways so feel free to send us a photo and a story about her/him, we promise to read it. We can’t wait to meet you and your four legged best friend out on the road…

    Hi Maggie,
I read your post and think it’s wonderful, what you plan on doing! I would like to be a part of it especially since you know that I am a “REAL” Service Dog and that my Mom is my “DISABLED OWNER”. I look forward to hearing from you.
    Chacho Hollywood…Woof! 🙂

    Hi Maggie & Nicole,
What a cool idea! I wish I could be in your book, but I’m not a service dog or anything heroic like that. I am, however, an aspiring dog actor/model, so I told my mom, Shannon, to subscribe to your blog. (She works in movies, too, she does Art Department….which makes her an Art Dog, lol!) We both look forward to reading about your adventures in Hollywood! Woof!

PS. I think I’d better tell my mom to change her avatar from a picture of the CAT. :p

    Hi guys!

Thanks so much for shooting Al Capone this weekend in Vegas. You two are both awesome with dogs, and I was thrilled to meet Maggie. Hoping this project goes well for you. You deserve every bit of recognition for it!!
