barkworks protest on black friday

I may of come from a shelter but I also support reputable breeders. Many of my four legged friends came from reputable breeders and I have no issues with that. My mum and I do not support backyard breeders, there is a huge difference.

My mum and one of my favorite people, Laura Nativo, went in a local petstore in the Westside Pavillion Mall, in Los Angeles, called Barkworks recently. There were dogs walking around the store thirsty, panting, and in need of water yet no water bowls were out. There were also large sized puppies, german shepards and others, that were given wall mounted water bottles to drink from. One was crying and biting at it trying to get the water out. So Laura and my mum asked to get the dog a water bowl, as a dog that size should have. They started yelling that at them that they knew nothing about animals (wrong people to speak to!) and ended up calling security to escort them out.

This store was selling mixed breeds, just like me, but for over a $1000 a dog! Not purebreds, bichon poodle mixes and more. Upon more research we learned that barkworks gets all their puppies from puppy mills!

Online is overflowing with stories from workers who speak of starving puppies to make sure they look sad to get adopted, and stories of dog passing away weeks later, and having tons of illnesses.

This just sickens me as companies like this should not exist.

An honest and Reputable Breeder:
– doesn’t sell to pet stores
– has the parent dogs that you can meet and see the temperment
– doesn’t sell for profit
– does EXTENSIVE research on their breed
– pays thousands! of dollars on improving their breed
– have health guarantees
– shows their dogs for conformation at dog shows
– does NOT mix breeds!
– sells Pet Quality dogs ONLY on Spay/Neuter Contracts
– will get their dogs and puppies all and any medical attention needed regardless of cost
– will be in good standing with their local and/or national breed club
– will be a forever friend that will be open to any questions you might have

On Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year, hundreds will be gathering outside barkworks in Los Angeles to protest the horrible treatment of the store. The police and mall are already aware of this event. If you want to join us we would love you there besides us and your four legged friends too! Join us as we protest cruel puppy practices.

Barkworks is the largest pet store chain in California that sells puppy mill dogs.
Barkworks has investigations being done and hundreds of complaints and yet continues to commit customer fraud.
5 million dogs are killed in shelters each year.
13,800 dogs are killed in shelters each DAY.

To receive a press release on this event please leave a comment and we will email it to you.

I wish I could be there, but I live in Wisconsin. This place should be shut down and owners prosecuted. I’m appalled that these kinds of stores exist and that people are dumb enough to purchase pets there. Raise a big ruckus tomorrow and get LOTS of publicity!

Because, like God, some people don’t believe in it.
